Bring Chicago Home Ballot Initiative Forges Ahead as Opponents Continue Last Ditch Effort to Subvert Democratic Process

CHICAGO – The following is a statement from Chicago Coalition for the Homeless Board President, Maxica Williams, on today’s court hearing to review the challenge filed by the opposition that did not yield any official decision:

“We are confident that as the court reviews the arguments and evidence made at today’s hearing they will see through our opposition’s desperate attempt to suppress the will of the people and rule to keep Bring Chicago Home on the ballot.”

“As our campaign continues talking to thousands of voters at the door, over the phone, and through text, it is clear that the people of Chicago are overwhelmingly in support of voting YES on Ballot Question 1 and making big developers and corporations pay their fair share to fund more affordable housing.”

“We will not be deterred by our opposition’s Right-wing tactics to subvert the democratic process on a popular issue in order to protect their own profits at the cost of people's lives.”
